The Associated Press reports that Amazon has updated its Kindle e-reader to include social media components. The Kindle 2.5 software is an automatic update which Amazon says has already been sent wirelessly to some owners and will be rolled out more broadly in late May. The update includes Facebook and Twitter integration, allowing users to share passages from books, magazines and other text they are reading on their Kindle with the Facebook and Twitter friends.
Electronic Frontier Foundation attorney Kurt Opsahl has gone spelunking in the history of Facebook’s privacy policies over the past five years, presenting a timeline that starts with something fairly moderate and reasonable in 2005 and moves to the current 2010 version which basically says, “By using Facebook, you agree to let us film your life 24/7, sell it to advertisers, ridicule it, or make a reality show from it.”
Guess what search term was the top search term at Google, Bing and Yahoo for the month of March? It was Facebook! Hitwise released data for the four weeks ending March 27th saying that across the three major search engines, the top query is the term [facebook].
The Twitter and Facebook online social networks are neck-in-neck competition to be the most used social media marketing tools by marketers, according to a new survey from SocialMediaExaminer.com.

conference this week, where it apparently bid to become the new Sheriff of the
Internet, Facebook’s plans to effectively put ’social’ into the very structure
of the Web has a few people a little concerned.
